As a newly qualified Health Care Professional (HCPC-registered) Music Therapist, my role is to support individuals whose lives may have been challenged by learning differences or impacted by trauma, addiction, PTSD, illness, or injury. I aim to work with people facing emotional, psychological, cognitive, social, and communication challenges. I am at the beginning of my journey as a therapist, yet I bring with me an immense passion and dedication to providing meaningful and effective support through my services.
Using the natural power of music, I aim to help people of all ages and abilities. I aim to tailor my methods to meet each individual’s unique needs, whether that’s helping them express themselves or connect more deeply with the world around them.
At the core of what I do is the trusting relationship I build with each client. We develop that bond through live musical interaction and shared music-making. I use a psychodynamic approach with a variety of instruments, song writing, and sound creation. I primarily focus on improvisation as a way to help clients find their own way of expressing themselves. This process allows them to create a unique musical language and discover new ways to communicate their feelings.
In short, Music Therapy is a psychotherapeutic approach in which I work closely with a client to address specific health or wellbeing goals. Music becomes the key medium for communication and expression. Through this collaboration, we build a therapeutic connection that helps clients navigate their challenges and improve their well-being.
